Hoober Stand

The south wall, looking upwards from the doorway
The south wall, looking upwards from the doorway

In ascending order are the doorway, reaching to the height of the base, the inscription, two of the five windows providing light to the internal stairway, and the viewing platform, which is 24 feet wide on each of its three sides.

Stonework has had to be replaced not only in the doorway and windows but in a vertical stretch of wall between the two windows.

There is a very slight twist in the rise of the building, possibly due to settling and the effects of mining subsidence.

Next: The doorway and inscription on the south wall.
