The funerary urn atop the 'unfinished pyramid'
The funerary urn atop the 'unfinished pyramid'

True pyramids,or obelisks, are capped by a single pyramidal stone referred to as a pyramidion. The use here of a funerary ornament surmounting an unfinished pyramid suggests that the monument may have been built as a memorial or, more likely, to function as a lychgate on the hilltop boundary between Wentworth and Rainborough Park to the north.
