Detail of the musket ball impact holes
Detail of the musket ball impact holes

Detail of the eastern face of the pyramid showing the impact holes undoubtedly caused by musket ball strike. The pattern clearly indicates a target at the height of a man's heart, possibly of two individuals.

The pyramid has its ghosts. Surrounding the evidence of execution, mould and lichen grow in the shape of two huddled persons. If you cannot see them, try looking with half-closed eyes. The reason for the discoloration is obvious; shrubbery growing against the pyramid has recently been cleared. The question remains: Why was it growing only over the musket ball pits?
