    Tony George, 69, of Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, nearly froze to death because of a broken boiler. Trying to fix it late at night, he became wedged between his house and the house next door. He was only rescued 12 hours later after his neighbour's dog saw him and barked.

Pru the piglet came to the rescue when her owner, Dee Jones, became stuck up to her thighs in thick mud on her Carmarthen farm. Pru pulled her out of the morass.

A goat took a 40-minute bus ride from Westerham to Bromley in Kent when the driver found it running on the road. A bus company spokesman said the goat behaved better than some passengers.

7-year old Fiona Hickling, from Aspley, Nottingham, was on a school camping trip when she left her tent late at night for a half-mile sleepwalk through a bramble patch, across a stream and alongside a 10-foot drop, to a nearby farmhouse.
