The American Stealth fighter plane requires 20 hours of maintenance for every hour of flight time and can only be used successfully in dry weather: The paint which helps to make it invisible to radar washes off in the rain. Argentinian planes flew so low in the Falklands War that they became coated with mud sucked up from the ground. A real low-flyer was 91 year old paperboy, Hal Wright of California. Using his 46 year old plane to deliver 50 newspapers along a 100 mile route, Hal aimed at the front porches as he whizzed by at 100 mph. The unfortunate stork which build its nest in a Lisbon electricity pylon caused the most extensive power failure for 20 years across southern Portugal. |
