Black
Black is the colour of Saturn, of the metal lead and of the seventh day, the day of Repose. Coffins of the rich are lead-lined to protect the contents from water seepage. Though the term black is often used to denote 'evil' as the antithesis of light, it really stands for constancy, understanding and prudence. In India, though Kali be black, so is Krishna; in the West, the Madonna is often black.

The stone associated with black is the adamant diamond, hardest of all minerals, composed of carbon in a lattice of cubic crystals. It may also be black onyx or jet.
