Fire - Air - Water - Earth

Are Fire, Air, Water, Earth,
The total of our human worth?
Earth and Fire, Air and Water,
Causes laughter and cause slaughter;
For Water, Earth, Fire and Air,
Abandon hope to grave despair;
So Air and Water, Earth and Fire,
Are born to feed the funeral pyre:
From which the quintessential I,
Like purple phoenix rises clean,
Beyond the confines of Earth's sky,
Entirely washed of all things mean.

Ah! The pungent path from real to ethereal.

What about Wisdom?

Prometheus stood with his fronds of gut
afront my name - etched warm in shining blood
He let his eyes from out their sockets drop
then hauled them in with twisted optic nerve
The vulture meekly did him serve
dishes brimmed with fiery slop . . .
